Treasures In The Trunk Part 2

Elizabeth Hake Quilt

I am just posting the pictures of the other couple of silk quilts and cushions relating to patchwork from the trunk.

I wasn't sure what to do and who to contact regarding finding out value's and who might be interested in seeing these items so contacted the Quilters Guild, and as their was such a lot of lace in the trunk The Lace Guild . Guess who came back to me- know one.
So I then contacted the V&A and Sue Prichard immediately got back to me and agreed to come down from London to have a look and give some advice.

It was when Sue was going though things that she mentioned about putting on a Quilt Exhibition that was back in the summer of 2005. It took a while to come to fruition but didn't she pull it off.
She took away with her for the V&A archives the copper plates and glass photographic plates that were used for the Book English Quilting Old and New.
My Partner in crime Suemluvs quilts no blog decided to draft one side of one of the cushions and made this delightful little pattern and called it Elizabeth Hake Quilt.
So today this will be a little giveaway and if anyone that doesn't win it really wants one, the pattern is for sale. so contact me off line and we will try to get something organised.
I will pull the winner on Friday the 13th- Now this might be unlucky for some but can assure you their will be one lucky person.

  1. Oh Sue, well done on all fronts for this post. At least the archives are now in a good home and will be saved. I love that hexagon cushion, it is so delicate and pretty and so is the pattern.
Shame on The Quilters Guild - their loss.

  2. I love to see the quilts and would love to win the little pattern. Was this a two sided quilt, then? The hexagons on one side? or is that just the best place to take a photo?

  3. So disappointing re. Quilters Guild lack of response on this as on many other items before. Very glad you persevered and that the V&A were rather more helpful. Also glad that patterns have been organised and made available - extra points all round!
