Bummer

Their I was going along quite nicely putting my latest quilt together and then wham!!!
Spot the un- deliberate mistake. I wondered what happened when I though I couldn't find a square, re cut one and had a nine patch left over.

This is the offending block.

Sorry about Merys leg sticking out in the corner but its the same old story of lay a quilt down and she takes ownership.
I'm decided to leave it for tonight and start a fresh with un- stitching and remaking the offending block in the morning.
Motto- don't start stitching in the evening when your mind is in grandchildren over load.

I just had to show you my new shopping buddy - Love those sun glasses! She cracks me up with what she comes out with now.

And look at the man in my life, he's growing a mile a minute and don't think I've ever come across a more chilled baby. He's going to be the observer in the family. Maybe pointing out my mistakes before I get to far ahead.

  1. I could not find the mistake until you pointed it out. I hope you aren't fixing it! Sometimes when I see "errors" in the old quilts I think they must be deliberate. But then I see the real thing in my own quilts and I am sure they were just errors. I love things like your mistake that keep us wondering forever.

  2. By the way, the pattern is one of my all-time favorites. I have a box of those blocks myself. I'll have to hunt them down.

  4. Another vote for leaving it, but it's your quilt. I love the mistakes, the mis-matches, the getting by with a different fabric or making do with something almost the same. That's the charm of the old quilts, and ours as well, I think.

Gotta love that feminine little gal in the shades. She looks like a sweetie. No doubt about that. And the little man in your life reminds me of a biography I just read about Steve McQueen -- "The King of Cool." This little cool dude may be in diapers, but he still looks totally in charge, just checking everything out. How proud you must be of them, Sue. They're adorable.

  8. I also think you should leave it as is - part of the story of this particular quilt - but either way, what a beautiful quilt it's shaping up to be. Cute grandchildren too;).

  10. Someone once told me they call this 'the hand of God' and that in the past deliberate 'mistakes' were made in quilts because only God is perfect. I would definitely leave this! Beautiful quilt by the way.

  13. I am normally very observant and can find mistakes rapidly and since it took me two tries to find your mistake I would say "leave it". I like the quirkiness that we often see in antique quilts. I just LOVE this quilt. Thanks for sharing it. I think I will dig out my pinks and browns!

  14. I see other commenters who think you should leave it :0) I love those surprises but have trouble actually leaving them in when it comes to my own projects. I don't think you can go wrong with this project - it looks beautiful!
