A Finish

Woo hoo a finish

Lots of you know I have been making these Klosjes for coming up for ------ years. Not even going to go their with that.
It's been a long time and have sewn these  little blocks through highs and lows of emotions.
I used  Cindy Blackberq's http://cindyblackberg.com/shop/template-stamps/spool/.
Cindy gave me these when I stopped of in Townsend for the night when I was on my way to Paducah. We both had tight schedules so it was a  quick coffee and I was on my way again.

It's with mixed emotion I have now completed this quilt top and am worried I am going to get withdrawal symptoms - Not to worry she gave me the Apple Core stamp too so I can carry on stamping and stitching to my hearts desire.

I have stamped, cut and pieced 1820 pieces of fabric and that gives me a total of 364  three inch blocks.

But of course it's not a quilt until it's quilted so will promptly book this one in and I will really will  have a finish.  Woo Hoo .

Still Finding Time

With my son's wedding fast approaching I am still finding a bit of time to slot in a bit of sewing.

I look at  this photo taken of my son last weekend and thought how young and handsome he still looks. He's my only child and cherish him even though we often don't see eye to eye. I guess that is because we are a lot alike.
Where have the last 35 years gone, I still see him as a boy and he is a man and just embarking on the most important day of his life.

Civil War block 19 Missouri Star

As for the sewing I have finished my Civil War block 19 Missouri Star and saw on Kathie's blog on the 23rd April that she had made a lovely little churn dash quilt set in some red floral fabric. I knew I had some of that red somewhere and after sorting through some boxes found it so now I am making one too.
Kathie's are 3in block whereas mine are 5in finished , I think I have decided to set mine a little differently too but Kathie's was certainly the inspiration for mine. Thanks Kathie.

Kathie's Churn Dash

Talking about sorting through boxes - Look what turned up .I started the Prickly Star blocks back in 2005.They now deserves to be on the sewing bucket list!
The quilt was on the front cover of Better Homes and Gardens Patchwork and quilting back in October 2004 and is by Cindy Blackberg.

Well I really am on count down to the wedding ,This time next week after all the planning it will be over, But I  am lucky I will have gained a wonderful DIL.

Well I have begun my Klosjes and am really enjoying going through choosing fabric and using Cindy's stamping block to stamp fabric and sew.

My Trip

The Great Smoky Mountains

After flying into Charlotte NC to spend a few days with very old friends I set of on my journey.
First stop was in the Tennessee mountains where I was meeting up with Cindy Blackberg who I originally meet when she lived in Florida.
We had got to know each other when I had my quilt shop and she was originally going to come over to the UK and do a workshop for me here. Well it didn't work out as Cindy moved up to Tennessee that year but we have always kept in touch.
We met for coffee in Townsend and looky looky what I got three of Cindy's stamping kits and the latest BHG quilting magazine with her Honeycomb Stars quilt in it. The apple core stamp is also featured in Jo Morton's book Vintage Journey, Cindy made this quilt for herself and one for Jo also.I also love the spools or Klosje's as they are being referred to on so many blogs. It was such a generous gift for Cindy to give me and now I can really have some handwork to piece while I am sitting with Dick and he decides to doze off, which is often. (Must be my stimulating conversation). Cindy does have all these for sale on her web site and she even does retreat in the smokies.
