Crib Quilts

Don't you just love these crib quilts. Pink for a girl and blue for a boy . I am going to have to get busy  making a crib quilt as soon  as  the new sewing room is set up. News is  I am going to be a grand-ma at the end of January.

We are all so excited about a new little person coming into our family It will certainly fill the void that is in my life. and I am so looking forward to going shopping!

I collected packing boxes today ,  I decided I wanted to pack up my  sewing paraphernalia myself.  I figured If I put it into the box I might just know what to expect to come out. Any way I thought the removal men just wouldn't get IT packing yards and yards of fabric. I don't want them to know I have a habit. LOL.


 

Sashing

Another quilt for the VQF in 2007. The only photo I seem to have taken of this quilt and it must have been for the interesting choice of sashing. I know they always say quilting makes the quilt but in some instances the choice of a border fabric can bring the quilt alive. In this case it is the sashing The block itself is lovely but  think  in this instance it is the sashing that gives the  impact.

The house is beginning to look a total mess with things being taken down from walls
and stacked in the dining room.
I was beginning to think the move wasn't going to happen a week ago as the solicitor found a covenant in the contract that was untenable.  After a week of sleepless nights all the solicitors came up with a suitable solution for my purchase to move forward. Hooray.
I was beginning to think the furniture was going to go off into store  and Mery and I going of with rucksacks on backs into the unknown.

Love this sashing

As their is no sewing going on here I thought I would post some photos of some vintage quilts.
In 2007 it was my first trip away to the USA on my own and off I went as the intrepid traveler to the Vermont Quilt Festival.
This was long before my blogging days so I have no info on these quilts  other than I liked them.

New House

 

 

 This week I have been clearing out DH's workshop, very emotional . Have made myself a tool box of some of his tools that I know I can use and old friends have taken the larger things like big saws and big hammer drills which are probably a bit on the large size for me to handle . I don't intend knocking any walls down as in 4 weeks time I will be living here.

What a difference it is going to be from my 1860 cottage with leaded windows  and thick stone walls .
Not sure about the kitchen. I feel like I should be wearing a white coat and putting out a notice saying private operations done here!

I also said goodbye to my dinning room table and chairs . An old friend of DH's came yesterday and we loaded it into his van and took it off to the Auction House.It would look totally out of place in the new house so it had to go.

I can't wait to get my sewing room organised so I can get back to life with a new way of living after of course I have made curtains, blinds, covered headboards and any other soft furnishing I need. Then its back to quilting.

Well It's  back to the grind stone of sorting and clearing for me.

Today I took a little time out to visit Cupcake Cottons in Burford as Clare Kingslake was there signing her new book Folk Art Applique. It is gorgeous and full of lovely inspiring projects to make.

I bought two books and have decided to celebrate my finding a new home with a give away of Clare's book.
