Dolly Quilts |
I knew these little quilts would come in to use one day. They were made by friends when I had my shop to promote Lori Smiths patterns and a new fabric line that came in .
Aren't they cute I wonder which one little Abigail will choose for her dolly. I know what your thinking- my goodness she is only a week old and she is thinking way ahead.
Before she arrived I really hadn't thought about what if it was a girl. Have read so many post where I hear ( I was taught to sew at my mothers knee) I certainly wasn't given that gift. But perhaps I can pass that gift on to my granddaughter.
So hopefully one of these days this little quilts might just kick of the thought process with her.
Here's hoping.
Sue, I should think Abigail will have such fun with these little quilts for her dolls. Love the blue strip down the one on the left. It's a wonderful detail.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with that sweet little baby. She'll be at your knee in no time!~ Sarah
Lets hope your granddaughter will like dolls, my doesn't very much :(
ReplyDeleteBut she likes playing (sorry, creating) with fabrics, so we have fun together.
I can't blame you for looking forward, you will be a large part of that little girl's life, whatever her talent turns out to be :)
Maybe she will need one at her house and one at yours. Or she will have a little sister one day who wants one? So much fun to ponder....it will be wonderful and Abigail is a lucky girl.
ReplyDeleteI don't have the pleasure of seeing our granddaughter in person very often, as our son is stationed in Germany, but whenever we're together, Grandma Vivian is showing little Maddie what Grandma Vivian likes to do. Subtle things. I'm helping build memories for her.
ReplyDeleteI pull out colorful spools of thread and let her stack them. When I'm sewing on my hexies, she arranges and stacks my hexagon flowers on the footstool. When I've worked on yo-yo's, she sorts those too. She even matched yo-yo's with trimmed off chunks of fabric.
We find ways to play, ways for her to remember that Grandma sews, and ways to teach--all wrapped in wonderful time together.
I didn't have to show Maddie what my little dolly quilts were for. When she was visiting at age 15 months, she knew to cover the dolly, wrap the dolly, and let the dolly lie on the quilt. Instinct, I suppose. And if she or her brother decide to run a tractor or car over a quilt, so be it.
I'm so happy for you, with your Grandma time ahead of you. You will love it.
You and Abigail are going to have such fun making those memories Sue and it is a fabulous gift for her.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue,
ReplyDeleteThank goodness Blogger has sorted itself out at last.
Those small quilts look very familiar! They bring back such fun, happy memories of your shop. Fantastic that they will become part of Abigail's growing up. Who would have thunk it at the time. Life is simply amazing.

Even as a teenager my step-granddaughter likes to play with fabrics in the sewing room. She doesn't drape them around her and parade through the house like she did when she was little though...miss that!
ReplyDeleteLittle girls love their doll quilts :0) My daughters and even my son use theirs for all kinds of play. It has been very special to teach my kids how to sew. That is something to look forward to indeed! These 2 doll quilts are very pretty.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful doll quilts for beautiful Abigail, love that you're making these plans for your future together.
ReplyDeleteThey are both so sweet!! Why would Abigail need to choose? I'm sure she will have more then one dolly;)
ReplyDeleteSue, are you into Pinterest? I would love to pin photos from your blog, but don't want to do so without your permission. My blog has a Pinterest button to link to my boards so you can check it out.
ReplyDeleteYour doll quilts are so sweet, and so is your dolly!
One lucky grand-daughter learning to sew with you - coming up!
