Butternut and Blue

My Barbara Brackman Civil War  quilt is back from the longarm quilter. It just needs binding and  have decided to call this one Butternut and Blue.
This was an online block a week. their were 52 blocks  in BB's   but I only got half way. This is still big enough for me.
Barbara at http://www.firtreequilting.com/   tells me it is machine guided rather than longarm quited which I understand is computerised. Well It's a great job and I am happy.

  1. Your quilt turned out lovely. I, too, only made it halfway with the Civil War blocks and then my interest waned. I made a large center, used many of my favorite blocks to surround it, and then appliqued a border. It's not quilted yet but it turned out great.

  2. Beautiful! Interesting comment from your quilter - everyone here in the states that I know still call this "machine quilting" or "longarm quilting".

  3. Very pretty Sue, love the touch of yellow for a sparkle amongst the soft blues.

  4. Looks beautiful Sue !! - a nice pattern with the blocks set on point . I like the lime / yellow touches too, and the way all the colours harmonize so nicely.

  6. It is really lovely Sue!! I can't imagine how big it would be if you made them all.

  7. It looks great Sue. I have not heard that definition before on quilting. Well done for making something of the ones you did finish. I peaked at two.

  8. oh Sue, its beautiful, i love the soft look of it and such pretty fabrics. congrats on another great finish. have fun binding :). Yes, lately I have heard them using different terms for machine quilting as there is a huge difference between someone using a pantograph and someone doing custom quilting and I think they are trying to distinguish that even more.
    thanks for sharing

  9. Your CW quilt looks fabulous and I am now feeling very guilty that my 52 plus blocks are sitting in a heap and unfinished. Take care.

  13. Second comment from me.. Today i got the Civil war quilt book, what a nice book! I surely want to make some of these blocks! And i will look at your quilt as an inspiration. Hopefully i will see the Lincoln movie tonight! What is the size of your blocks? The book has two sizes, i think.
