Welsh Quilts
A couple of years back my PIC and I set off to Wales to see an Exhibition of Welsh Quilts at Llancaicach Fawr Manor.
The photos are of a very sad welsh quilt but someone has reproduced it so this pattern is not lost to the world.
This was all well before my blogging time and although their were some wonderful examples of welsh quilts I sadly didn't take many photos- If only we could turn the clock back.
Their were workshops going on at the Manor and Co Authors of Making Welsh Quilts Clair Claridge and Mary Jenkins were on hand at the quilting frame demonstrating quilting.
So the purpose of this blog is to let you know Mary Jenkins now has her own blog so if you want to learn a little more about Welsh Quilts and traditions take a look at Little Welsh Quilts.
Enjoy.

Yes, found Mary Jenkins blog - beautiful isn't it?
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful old quilt. I would love to make it one day as my husband's family all come from Wales. I will go have a read of the blog you mentioned. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting quilt. I think I will go take a look at the site you mention.
ReplyDeleteSue, would you phone us sometime about classes? Sent a message previously, maybe it didn't get to you! x
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I like the reproduced one as well, but it is nice that the pattern is saved.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to Mary's blog. She's off to a great start!
Thank you Sue for mentioning my blog, you have helped tremendously.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you thought to take a picture of that lovely old quilt. I didn't used to take many photos of quilts either but lately I've started taking my camera along in my purse whenever I go to a quilt shop or quilt-related event in case I spot something that I like. It sure has come in handy several times now.
ReplyDeleteI went Llancaiach Fawr a few years ago on a group outing and had one of the best days out ever. We had a guided tour of the house and it was just so funny. There were no quilts there although one of the ladies did tell me that they had quilt exhibitions there. Haven't ever got to one though. Will have to make more effort. Thank you for that reminder Sue. I have a friend who lives in the vicinity and I am sure would love a visit there.
ReplyDeleteLove Shirley.
Thank you for sharing your pictures, Sue:) Also thank you for the link to Mary's blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link, Sue. I love the quilt, actually both of them!
ReplyDeleteI would love to take that workshop on Welsh quilts. Love that old and faded look!
